Workshop in French and English
How can we go about beginning a performance with the end? Above all, it is necessary to define the meaning of ‘end’, and then find out how this can be performed and used as chore-ographic material. Starting out from a piece originally created for five dancers, adapted and reworked as part of this workshop, João Fiadeiro will be inviting performers to establish the principal dramaturgical lines of a discourse, while developing running capacities in terms of stamina and endurance. Bringing the body to the edge of exhaustion, but without collapsing. A work on discourse and running that the public will be able to discover during a spectacular presentation that will take place simultaneously in three different locations in the town of Pantin.
Born in 1965, João Fiadeiro belongs to a generation of choreographers who emerged in the late 1980s and led to the emergence of the Nova Dança Portuguesa. In 1990, he founded the workshop RE.AL Company that supported the creation and dissemination of several choreographers and their works, which were regularly performed in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and South America. Real Time Composition is a project that he has been developing for twenty years. In parallel, he has organised several workshops invarious training courses, schools and universities throughout the world. João Fiadeiro is currently completing a PhD in contemporary art at the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
João Fiadeiro’s workshop and its presentation are organized by and presented with Magasins Généraux.
