O QUE FAZER DAQUI PARA TRÁS
In O que fazer daqui para trás, João Fiadeiro explores the duration of suspended time, the interval, focusing attention on what is not happening in front of the audience. Here, what is left unsaid is more important than what is being said. The piece is a critique of the urgency and acceleration of everyday life, which make it difficult for individuals to organize themselves. The performers go into and out of the stage gasping, leaving the spectator in a state of constant waiting for what will occupy the void they left.
A large part of João Fiadeiro’s training took place between Lisbon, New York and Berlin. He was a dancer at the Companhia de Dança de Lisboa and at Ballet Gulbenkian. In 1990, he created Companhia RE.AL, which has been active to this day. Between 2011 and 2014, he co-directed the investigation center AND_Lab, in Lisbon, with anthropologist Fernanda Eugênio.
